4,022. Blemishes of the Ear

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 7:2

Five of the fifty blemishes involve the ear: (1) if the lobe is so blemished that it would impede a fingernail being run over it. But there are no blemishes regarding skin around the earlobe, whether it’s punctured, damaged or cracked.

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 7:3

(2) If the ear is cracked in any amount, even if none of it is missing; (3) an earlobe that has been punctured, in a size the area of a small bean, whether round or long; (4) one whose ear has dried so much that it wouldn’t bleed if punctured; (5) one whose ear appears doubled. This is even the case regarding a goat with long ears that appear to be doubled, so long as it has two lobes. If it has only one lobe so that the ear looks like a single ear that’s doubled over, then it’s fit for use.
