#235: Items in a Tree
1. One may also not place items in a tree on Shabbat (Shulchan Aruch, O.C. 336:13), nor may items already in a tree be removed on Shabbat (Rema 336:1). For example, if a ball is thrown and lands in a tree, one may not remove it on Shabbat, regardless of whether it was there from before Shabbat or not. Moreover, one may not even place an item in a tree before Shabbat, because one may try to remove it on Shabbat (Mishnah Berurah 336:12).
2. It is forbidden to hang or place an item directly on a tree on Shabbat, or use such an item, for the same reason as discussed previously (concern that one may detach a branch) (Shulchan Aruch, O.C. 336:13). For example, one may not sit on a swing or a hammock that is hung directly from the tree. Similarly, one may not climb a ladder that is leaning against a tree
