3,825. The Permanence of the Temple

Hilchos Beis HaBechirah 1:3

Once the Temple was built in Jerusalem, it became prohibited to establish any other temple to God or to offer sacrifices anywhere else. The only permanent Temple is the one in Jerusalem, on Mt. Moriah, as per I Chronicles 22:1: “David said: ‘This is the house of Hashem God, and this is the altar for the offerings of Israel’” and Psalms 132:14: “This is My permanent abode.”

Hilchos Beis HaBechirah 1:4

The building that King Solomon built is thoroughly described in the Book of Kings. The future Temple is discussed in the Book of Ezekiel, but it is not described or explained. Therefore, the people in the time of Ezra built the Second Temple based on Solomon’s design, incorporating certain elements that were mentioned in Ezekiel.
