3,775. Would Those Suspected Donate Shemittah Produce to Charity?
Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:19
Painters and cattlemen can buy bran from anyone without concern that it might be the aftergrowth of shemittah.
Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:20
During shemittah, those who collected food for charity wouldn’t solicit donations in the courtyards of people who ate the aftergrowth of shemittah. If those people donated a loaf of bread, it is permitted and we don’t suspect that it might be from the aftergrowth of shemittah. This is because Jews might only be suspected of donating money received for shemittah produce, or eggs that were purchased such funds (but they wouldn’t donate actual shemittah produce to charity). One may borrow shemittah produce (which can't be sold) from needy people, repaying them with eighth-year produce.
