#173: The Cup of Wine Used for Havdalah (Part 2)
- If one does not have a non-disposable cup to use for Havdalah, many poskim permit using a disposable cup (Yalkut Yosef 271:41). Some permit using only stronger types of disposable cups that are often reused (Tzitz Eliezer 12:23), while others permit using any disposable cup (Az Nidberu 6:49). Some do not permit their use at all (Minchat Yitzchak 10:23). For more information, see https://halachipedia.com/index.php?title=Kiddush#The_Cup_for_Kiddush here and https://www.yutorah.org/lectures/727120/ here.
- One should also make sure, like Kiddush, that the wine used is not pagum (Mishnah Berurah 296:2). This means no one drank from the cup and then poured that wine into a different cup to use for Havdalah. If one did drink directly from the cup, one may pour a little more wine in from the bottle to rectify it.
