#147: Machshavah

The Kaf HaChaim (290:11) writes that Shabbat is an auspicious time for studying specifically the deeper aspects of Torah: “One who is capable should engage in studying the secrets of Torah, as our teacher the Arizal writes.”

Even the many people who do not study Kabbala or Chasidut regularly can consider implementing the Kaf HaChaim’s recommendation. Instead of using Shabbat exclusively for the study of the more detail-oriented Torah subjects, one might dedicate some time to probing and appreciating the deeper and more fundamental tenets of Judaism. This will strengthen our faith in Hashem and our joy in serving Him in a meaningful way.

Shabbat only comes once a week; let us make sure to make the most of every moment!
