#133: Torah Study on Shabbat

  1. In addition to fulfilling the mitzvah of Oneg Shabbat through good food and resting, one can also enjoy Shabbat through Torah study (Talmud Yerushalmi, Shabbat 15:3). In particular, those who do not engage in full-time or regular part-time Torah study during the week should make a point of studying Torah on Shabbat (Rema, O.C. 292:2).
  2. Since women as well as men should establish a strong connection with the Torah and study it regularly, it stands to reason that women, too, should try to establish some form of Torah study on Shabbat. This can be through a weekly shiur, independent study of the weekly parsha, or any other Torah topic that interests her. [EO2]
