#115: Lechem Mishneh (Part 7)
- If a challah is partially broken before Hamotzi is recited, one may use a toothpick or some other way to join the two pieces together, if one can practically do so (Piskei Teshuvot 274:10).
- If one has no bread or challot to use for lechem mishneh, one may use a whole unit of grain that qualifies as “pat haba b'kisnin”(such as a whole cake or a cookie) as a substitute according to many opinions (Piskei Teshuvot 274:7).
