#86: Drinking from the Kiddush Wine/Grape Juice (Part 3)
- There are a number of options to avoid the problem of “pagum” when distributing wine or grape juice from the Kiddush cup to others around the table: A) Pour from the Kiddush cup for others before drinking from it oneself, B) Allow everyone to drink directly from the Kiddush cup (see Shaar Hatziun 271:89 & Radiance of Shabbos p.55), C) Give everyone their own wine or grape juice before Kiddush.
- "Pagum" wine can be rectified by pouring additional wine or grape juice into the Kiddush cup. Thus, one who drinks from the Kiddush cup and wants to reuse the rest of the wine at a later time may pour a little in from the bottle and then pour the entire amount in the cup back into the bottle. One may also employ this solution to distribute wine or grape juice around the table by pouring a little more into the Kiddush cup after the one who recites Kiddush has drunk from it.
