3,338. A Threat to Impurify Terumah
Terumos 12:6
Let’s say that someone was transporting loaves of terumah from one place to another and a non-Jew says to him, “Give me one of the loaves or I’ll touch all of them, rendering them ritually unclean.” In such a case, the person should put one of the loaves on a rock rather than putting it directly in his hand. In this way he will not actively be rendering the terumah unclean.
Terumos 12:7
One may perform all the labor of fenugreek and vicia of terumah in ritual uncleanliness because they’re not deemed fit for human consumption. One need only be careful when putting them in water to soak because if he puts them in the water while ritually unclean, he will have actively rendered them impure. Once they have been soaked, there is no need to be concerned with ritual impurity when crushing the vicia or when feeding them to livestock. Because of this, one may give fenugreek and vicia of terumah to an unlearned kohein.
