Niddah 9:6-7

Niddah 9:6

Seven “detergents” are applied to a bloodstain: tasteless saliva, bean liquid, urine, natron, lye, cumin and bleach. If one immersed the garment, prepared ritually-clean things on it and applied the seven “detergents” but the stan didn’t disappear, it’s dye. The ritually-clean foods remain clean and one need not immerse the garment. If the stain disappeared or faded, it’s blood. The ritually-clean foods are rendered unclean and one must immerse the garment.

Niddah 9:7

“Tasteless saliva” means the saliva of one who tasted nothing since the night before. “Bean liquid” means a paste made from chewed beans. Urine refers to stale urine. One must scrub the stain three times with each “detergent.” If one didn’t apply them in their proper order, or if he applied all seven of them at once, he has done nothing.
