Maaser Sheni 5:11-12

Ma’aser Sheini 5:11

Continuing the confession, “According to all Your commandments, which You commanded me” means that one separated tithes in the proper order. If one took second tithe before first tithe, he may not recite the confession. “I have not violated Your commandments” means that one did not take tithes from one species for another, nor from harvested produce for attached produce, nor from the new crop for the old or vice versa. “I have not forgotten” means that one did not neglect to bless God when separating his tithes.

Ma’aser Sheini 5:12

“I did not eat it in a state of mourning” – if one did eat it in a state of mourning, he may not recite the confession. “I did not eat it in a state of uncleanliness” – if he separated tithes in a state of uncleanliness, he may not recite the confession. “I did not give from it for the dead” – meaning he did not use it to purchase a coffin or shrouds, nor did he give it to others in a state of mourning. “I listened to the voice of Hashem, my G-d” – I brought it to the Temple. “I have acted according to all that You commanded me” – I ate it in joy and I used it to bring joy to others.
