Chapter 16
(א) וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה אַחֲרֵ֣י מ֔וֹת שְׁנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֑ן בְּקׇרְבָתָ֥ם לִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָ֖ה וַיָּמֻֽתוּ׃ (ב) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה דַּבֵּר֮ אֶל־אַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֒יךָ֒ וְאַל־יָבֹ֤א בְכׇל־עֵת֙ אֶל־הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ מִבֵּ֖ית לַפָּרֹ֑כֶת אֶל־פְּנֵ֨י הַכַּפֹּ֜רֶת אֲשֶׁ֤ר עַל־הָאָרֹן֙ וְלֹ֣א יָמ֔וּת כִּ֚י בֶּֽעָנָ֔ן אֵרָאֶ֖ה עַל־הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃ (ג) בְּזֹ֛את יָבֹ֥א אַהֲרֹ֖ן אֶל־הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ בְּפַ֧ר בֶּן־בָּקָ֛ר לְחַטָּ֖את וְאַ֥יִל לְעֹלָֽה׃ (ד) כְּתֹֽנֶת־בַּ֨ד קֹ֜דֶשׁ יִלְבָּ֗שׁ וּמִֽכְנְסֵי־בַד֮ יִהְי֣וּ עַל־בְּשָׂרוֹ֒ וּבְאַבְנֵ֥ט בַּד֙ יַחְגֹּ֔ר וּבְמִצְנֶ֥פֶת בַּ֖ד יִצְנֹ֑ף בִּגְדֵי־קֹ֣דֶשׁ הֵ֔ם וְרָחַ֥ץ בַּמַּ֛יִם אֶת־בְּשָׂר֖וֹ וּלְבֵשָֽׁם׃ (ה) וּמֵאֵ֗ת עֲדַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יִקַּ֛ח שְׁנֵֽי־שְׂעִירֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים לְחַטָּ֑את וְאַ֥יִל אֶחָ֖ד לְעֹלָֽה׃ (ו) וְהִקְרִ֧יב אַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־פַּ֥ר הַחַטָּ֖את אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ וְכִפֶּ֥ר בַּעֲד֖וֹ וּבְעַ֥ד בֵּיתֽוֹ׃ (ז) וְלָקַ֖ח אֶת־שְׁנֵ֣י הַשְּׂעִירִ֑ם וְהֶעֱמִ֤יד אֹתָם֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃ (ח) וְנָתַ֧ן אַהֲרֹ֛ן עַל־שְׁנֵ֥י הַשְּׂעִירִ֖ם גֹּרָל֑וֹת גּוֹרָ֤ל אֶחָד֙ לַיהֹוָ֔ה וְגוֹרָ֥ל אֶחָ֖ד לַעֲזָאזֵֽל׃ (ט) וְהִקְרִ֤יב אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶת־הַשָּׂעִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָלָ֥ה עָלָ֛יו הַגּוֹרָ֖ל לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְעָשָׂ֖הוּ חַטָּֽאת׃ (י) וְהַשָּׂעִ֗יר אֲשֶׁר֩ עָלָ֨ה עָלָ֤יו הַגּוֹרָל֙ לַעֲזָאזֵ֔ל יׇֽעֳמַד־חַ֛י לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה לְכַפֵּ֣ר עָלָ֑יו לְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֹת֛וֹ לַעֲזָאזֵ֖ל הַמִּדְבָּֽרָה׃ (יא) וְהִקְרִ֨יב אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־פַּ֤ר הַֽחַטָּאת֙ אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ וְכִפֶּ֥ר בַּֽעֲד֖וֹ וּבְעַ֣ד בֵּית֑וֹ וְשָׁחַ֛ט אֶת־פַּ֥ר הַֽחַטָּ֖את אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃ (יב) וְלָקַ֣ח מְלֹֽא־הַ֠מַּחְתָּ֠ה גַּֽחֲלֵי־אֵ֞שׁ מֵעַ֤ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וּמְלֹ֣א חׇפְנָ֔יו קְטֹ֥רֶת סַמִּ֖ים דַּקָּ֑ה וְהֵבִ֖יא מִבֵּ֥ית לַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃ (יג) וְנָתַ֧ן אֶֽת־הַקְּטֹ֛רֶת עַל־הָאֵ֖שׁ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְכִסָּ֣ה ׀ עֲנַ֣ן הַקְּטֹ֗רֶת אֶת־הַכַּפֹּ֛רֶת אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־הָעֵד֖וּת וְלֹ֥א יָמֽוּת׃ (יד) וְלָקַח֙ מִדַּ֣ם הַפָּ֔ר וְהִזָּ֧ה בְאֶצְבָּע֛וֹ עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַכַּפֹּ֖רֶת קֵ֑דְמָה וְלִפְנֵ֣י הַכַּפֹּ֗רֶת יַזֶּ֧ה שֶֽׁבַע־פְּעָמִ֛ים מִן־הַדָּ֖ם בְּאֶצְבָּעֽוֹ׃ (טו) וְשָׁחַ֞ט אֶת־שְׂעִ֤יר הַֽחַטָּאת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָעָ֔ם וְהֵבִיא֙ אֶת־דָּמ֔וֹ אֶל־מִבֵּ֖ית לַפָּרֹ֑כֶת וְעָשָׂ֣ה אֶת־דָּמ֗וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ לְדַ֣ם הַפָּ֔ר וְהִזָּ֥ה אֹת֛וֹ עַל־הַכַּפֹּ֖רֶת וְלִפְנֵ֥י הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃ (טז) וְכִפֶּ֣ר עַל־הַקֹּ֗דֶשׁ מִטֻּמְאֹת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וּמִפִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֖ם לְכׇל־חַטֹּאתָ֑ם וְכֵ֤ן יַעֲשֶׂה֙ לְאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד הַשֹּׁכֵ֣ן אִתָּ֔ם בְּת֖וֹךְ טֻמְאֹתָֽם׃ (יז) וְכׇל־אָדָ֞ם לֹא־יִהְיֶ֣ה ׀ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֗ד בְּבֹא֛וֹ לְכַפֵּ֥ר בַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁ עַד־צֵאת֑וֹ וְכִפֶּ֤ר בַּעֲדוֹ֙ וּבְעַ֣ד בֵּית֔וֹ וּבְעַ֖ד כׇּל־קְהַ֥ל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
(א) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה בָּתַר דְּמִיתוּ תְּרֵין בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן בְּקָרוֹבֵיהוֹן אֶשָּׁתָא נוּכְרֵיתָא קֳדָם יְיָ וּמִיתוּ: (ב) וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמשֶׁה מַלֵּל עִם אַהֲרֹן אָחוּךְ וְלָא יְהֵי עָלֵל בְּכָל עִדָּן לְקוּדְשָׁא מִגָּיו לְפָרֻכְתָּא לָקֳדָם כַּפֻּרְתָּא דִּי עַל אֲרוֹנָא וְלָא יְמוּת אֲרֵי בַּעֲנָנָא אֲנָא מִתְגְּלִי עַל בֵּית כַּפֻּרְתָּא: (ג) בְּדָא יְהֵי עָלֵל אַהֲרֹן לְקוּדְשָׁא בְּתוֹר בַּר תּוֹרֵי לְחַטָּאתָא וּדְכַר לַעֲלָתָא: (ד) כִּתּוּנָא דְבוּצָא קוּדְשָׁא יִלְבָּשׁ וּמִכְנְסִין דְּבוּץ יְהוֹן עַל בִּסְרֵיהּ וּבְהֶמְיָנָא דְבוּצָא יֵסַר וּבְמִצְנֶפְתָּא דְבוּצָא יָחֵת בְּרֵישֵׁיהּ לְבוּשֵׁי קוּדְשָׁא אִנּוּן וְיַסְחֵי בְמַיָּא יָת בִּסְרֵיהּ וְיַלְבְּשִׁנּוּן: (ה) וּמִין כְּנִשְׁתָּא דִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יִסַּב תְּרֵין צְפִירֵי עִזִּין לְחַטָּאתָא וּדְכַר חַד לַעֲלָתָא: (ו) וִיקָרֵב אַהֲרֹן יָת תּוֹרָא דְחַטָּאתָא דִּי לֵיהּ וִיכַפֵּר עֲלוֹהִי וְעַל אֱנַשׁ בֵּיתֵיהּ: (ז) וְיִסַּב יָת תְּרֵין צְפִירִין וִיקִים יָתְהוֹן קֳדָם יְיָ בִּתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא: (ח) וְיִתֵּן אַהֲרֹן עַל תְּרֵין צְפִירִין עַדְבִין עַדְבָא חַד לִשְׁמָא דַיְיָ וְעַדְבָא חַד לַעֲזָאזֵל: (ט) וִיקָרֵב אַהֲרֹן יָת צְפִירָא דִּי סְלִיק עֲלוֹהִי עַדְבָא לִשְׁמָא דַיְיָ וְיַעְבִּדִנֵיהּ חַטָּאתָא: (י) וּצְפִירָא דִּי סְלִיק עֲלוֹהִי עַדְבָא לַעֲזָאזֵל יִתָּקַם כַּד חַי קֳדָם יְיָ לְכַפָּרָא עֲלוֹהִי לְשַׁלַּח יָתֵיהּ לַעֲזָאזֵל לְמַדְבְּרָא: (יא) וִיקָרֵב אַהֲרֹן יָת תּוֹרָא דְחַטָּאתָא דִּי לֵיהּ וִיכַפֵּר עֲלוֹהִי וְעַל אֱנַשׁ בֵּיתֵיהּ וְיִכּוֹס יָת תּוֹרָא דְחַטָּאתָא דִּי לֵיהּ: (יב) וְיִסַּב מְלֵי מַחְתִּיתָא גּוּמְרִין דְּאֶשָּׁא מֵעִלַּוֵי מַדְבְּחָא מִן קֳדָם יְיָ וּמְלֵי חָפְנוֹהִי קְטוֹרֶת בּוּסְמִין דַּקִּיקִין וְיָעֵל מִגָּיו לְפָרֻכְתָּא: (יג) וְיִתֵּן יָת קְטוֹרֶת בּוּסְמַיָּא עַל אֶשָּׁתָא לָקֳדָם יְיָ וְחָפֵי עֲנָנָא קְטָרְתָּא יָת כַּפֻּרְתָּא דִּי עַל סַהֲדוּתָא וְלָא יְמוּת: (יד) וְיִסַּב מִדְּמָא דְתוֹרָא וְיַדִּי בְאֶצְבְּעֵיהּ עַל אַפֵּי כַּפֻּרְתָּא קִדּוּמָא וְלָקֳדָם כַּפֻּרְתָּא יַדִּי שְׁבַע זִמְנִין מִן דְּמָא בְּאֶצְבְּעֵיהּ: (טו) וְיִכּוֹס יָת צְפִירָא דְחַטָּאתָא דִּי לְעַמָּא וְיָעֵל יָת דְּמֵיהּ לְמִגָּיו לְפָרֻכְתָּא וְיַעְבֵּד לִדְמֵיהּ כְּמָא דִי עֲבַד לִדְמָא דְתוֹרָא וְיַדִּי יָתֵיהּ עַל כַּפֻּרְתָּא וְלָקֳדָם כַּפֻּרְתָּא: (טז) וִיכַפֵּר עַל קוּדְשָׁא מִסּוֹאֲבַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִמֶּרְדֵּיהוֹן לְכָל חֲטָאֵיהוֹן וְכֵן יַעְבֵּד לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא דְּשָׁרֵי עִמְּהוֹן בְּגוֹ סוֹאֲבָתְהוֹן: (יז) וְכָל אֱנַשׁ לָא יְהֵי בְּמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא בְּמֵעֲלֵיהּ לְכַפָּרָא בְקוּדְשָׁא עַד מִפְּקֵיהּ וִיכַפֵּר עֲלוֹהִי וְעַל אֱנַשׁ בֵּיתֵיהּ וְעַל כָּל קְהָלָא דְיִשְׂרָאֵל:
1. Hashem spoke with Moshe after Aharon’s two sons died in their bringing a strange fire before Hashem, and they died. 2. Hashem said to Moshe: Speak with Aharon your brother and he shall not come at all times to the Holy behind the drape, to in front of the cover that is on the Ark, and he won’t die, because in the cloud I am revealed[1] in the room of the cover.[2] 3. Thus shall Aharon come to the Holy: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4. He shall put on a sacred linen tunic, and linen pants shall be on his flesh, and with a linen belt he shall gird, and in a linen turban he shall place on his head;[3] they are holy garments. He shall bathe his flesh in water and dress in them. 5. And from the congregation of the children of Israel he shall take two male goats for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 6. Aharon shall offer a sin offering bull that is his own, to atone for himself and for the people of his household. 7. He shall take the two male goats and stand them before Hashem at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. 8. Aharon shall put lots upon the two goats, one marked to the name of Hashem and the one lot to azazel.[4] 9. Aharon shall bring near the goat that has on it the lot to the name of Hashem and make it (as) a sin offering, 10. and the goat that has on it the lot to azazel shall be stood while alive before Hashem to atone on it, to send it to azazel, to the wilderness. 11. Aharon shall bring near the sin offering bull that is his and he shall atone for himself and for the people of his household. He shall slaughter the sin offering bull that is his. 12. He shall take a pan full of glowing coals[5] from above the altar, from before Hashem, and his handfuls full of fine spice incense; he shall bring (them) within the drape. 13. He shall put the spice incense on the fire before Hashem and the cloud of the incense will cover the cover that is on the Testimony[6] and not die. 14. He shall take from the blood of the bull and sprinkle (it) with his finger towards the cover to the east, and before the cover he shall sprinkle seven times from the blood with his finger. 15. He shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering that is the people’s and bring its blood to the drape. He shall do to its blood as he did to the blood of the bull: he shall sprinkle it on the cover and before the cover. 16. He shall atone for the Holy from the impurity of the children of Israel and from their iniquities, for all their sins. So shall he do for the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them among their impurity. 17. And every person shall not be in the Tent of Meeting when he comes to atone in the Holy until his exit. He shall atone for himself, and for the people of his household and for the entire community of Israel.
