3,242. Designating a Spot for Terumah

Terumos 3:7

If someone separates just a portion of his terumah, that portion is not terumah. Nevertheless, he must separate terumah for that portion from it rather than from other produce.

Terumos 3:8

If someone separates some terumah from one pile of grain and some terumah from another pile of the same type, he may not separate terumah for one pile from the other. Let’s say that someone declares that the terumah for a pile of grain is in that pile. If he specified a particular spot, such as on the north side or the south side, then he has effectively designated terumah and he must separate it from that spot. If he did not specify a particular spot, his words are meaningless.
